No, I'm Fine (Print)
This is how it feels to be the strong friend, from my perspective. It’s a self-sabotaging cycle that keeps everyone at an arm’s length away when you yourself are in need, and also being the first to offer the best bear hug when others are struggling. You love your friends and family, yet when you need them, you become a recluse and lie about being okay. You can’t drop this wall and simply ask for help, and once someone goes out of their way to check on you, you reply “Oh, no, I’m fine. Just been busy lately.” A lie. Just hold your head high, and continue to drudge along, eventually the strength will rekindle and the statement of “I’m fine, just been busy!” will be a genuine statement. Do me a favor, reach out to that strong friend in your life, ask them how they’ve been doing, and let them lie about being fine. And keep checking in on them until that statement becomes real. If you’re the strong friend, just keep going. Original is Mixed Media on 11” x 14” canvas. (Print, not original)
