The Lesson of Woe and Worth (Sticker)

The Lesson of Woe and Worth (Sticker)

The peacock is a prey bird with very little self-defense, its composition as an animal makes it a target and is continuously susceptible to attack in the wild, I related this to my feelings of helplessness and impending danger when chronically anxious. Becoming aware of my heart feeling as if it’s in my throat, choking on invisible thoughts. Becoming aware of my sense of unavoidable failure moment-by-moment, and the panic that never seems to find a solution, I can’t focus. Needing a big deep breath to re-center myself, I’m able to recognize that the peacock is still loved and protected. Considered beautiful by many throughout the world and cherished despite their vulnerabilities. The peacock is not so different from myself, it’s struggles don’t diminish it’s worth. It dawned on me that peacocks are valued for their impressive visual beauty and iridescence, and there are so many different forms of beauty to be cherished. Take a moment to think of how much more valuable you are than some simple visual perception. You are flesh that can build, dance, travel, write, sing, draw, heal, protect, etc. You can teach and expand others’ lives and knowledge, you can speak thoughts to others and share their stories, you can do so much more than this valued creature. So, why do you consider yourself less than? Your journey, feelings, and thoughts are beautiful. Your efforts, failures, lessons, and heartaches are beautiful. You are worthy of love and protection, despite your "flaws" or perceived “weaknesses”. I am worthy of being valuable and being valued by others. Original is ink on 8" x 11" paper (Sticker)
