Skull .4 (Curious) - Gratitude (Postcard)
-The Spider weaves together its home, as do I. We gather our intricate beauty and dwell in our creations. Think not of the outcome of the work, like the Spider, think only of how the creation may serve you. – (Inspiration)
The spider’s web has served it’s purpose as a place of safety and familiarity, a place of nourishment, a home. When that purpose has been fulfilled, the spider bravely moves on to a better suited residence.
“Trust yourself.” The artist reminds herself. Having gotten comfortable with the color palette chosen for this series, she had a desire to see what depth could be achieved by combining colors in a way that she hadn’t tried before. With the decision made to push her limits, she worked in her sketchbook for months, this work entailed mixing colors chosen for this series, in as many different variations as she could think up.
It was at this point, she understood; she is now curious. She is confident. She knows what brings her joy when choosing a subject to spend working weeks at a time, she knows how she wants to push herself, she knows it will all be enough, and the work will be beautiful. She is no longer hoping for answers, she is searching and drawing her own conclusions.
